Project Inclusive Outreach with Special Needs Children

In line with its commitment to supporting vulnerable groups, BruderHilfe Social Development Initiative, in partnership with Muriel Gordon Foundation, carried out a humanitarian outreach at Christlight School for the Deaf & Dumb, Egbeda, Lagos.

The outreach focused on improving access to essential socio-economic support for children living with disabilities. Donations provided included educational materials, food provisions, nutritional supplements, clothing, footwear, and other basic necessities to support the wellbeing of the children and the school’s operations.

Despite their hearing and speech impairments, the children expressed heartfelt appreciation through creative performances, including songs, choreography, and drama, showcasing their talents and resilience.

The BruderHilfe team, led by Executive Director Mary Oluwabamigbe Bruder, engaged with the children, offering encouragement and reaffirming the organisation’s commitment to improving the lives of persons with disabilities. During the visit, the organisation announced plans to strengthen collaboration with the school and adopt it as one of the beneficiaries of its education development initiatives.

The visit highlighted the determination of the children to reach their full potential despite their limitations, while also inspiring the visiting team with the students’ resilience and the dedication of the school staff.

The school’s proprietress, Toyin Apei, expressed gratitude for the donations and support, noting the positive impact on the children and the institution, and welcomed continued partnership in the future.
